A second-generation diamond dealer who learned to cut and grade stones at his father’s side in Israel — and has spent the last two decades building a reputation in the United States for honest, transparent dealing.
Biography
Yossi grew up inside the diamond industry in Israel, in a family where stones were discussed at the dinner table. He learned the craft the way it has always been passed down — watching, then doing, under his father’s eye. Cutting. Grading. Negotiating. Understanding what makes one stone worth more than another that looks identical to an untrained eye.
In 2004 he moved to the United States and started his own business, servicing many fine jewelry stores across the country. That work shaped how he thinks about the other side of the counter: most people selling a diamond are doing it once, under pressure, with no way to judge whether the number they’re given is fair.
Benadato Trading Company was built around fixing that. Every evaluation Yossi conducts is done in front of the client, with the reasoning explained out loud — the carat weight, the grade, the market, and how each one moves the price. He will bring in an independent appraiser if a client wants one. He would rather lose a deal than have someone leave feeling uncertain.
